Prepared Childbirth

This past Tuesday Dave and I had our first birthing class.  It is called prepared childbirth.  It is done by the hospital I will be delivering in.  I thought it was great!
I enjoyed hearing about what really are signs and what are not.  For instance having flu like symptoms are a sign you are in the preliminary stages of labor.  I did not know that.  Other things were really obvious like, if your water breaks.  The instructor also went over the importance of breathing during labor and delivery.  It was funny she said I am not going to teach you that hee hee huu method that all the movies show.  She just really emphasized that you need to be aware of your breathing to help you focus and if possible to make a pattern to take you mind off all of the pain.  We will see how much of a pattern I develop while screaming at everyone around me.
This was just the first of 4 classes, one of the nights we will spend touring the hospital.  Which to me seems really important because I can image us getting separating while Dave does some type of paper work and then he misses everything.  I would be really mad if that happened.
Anyway this is just a blip of the things running through my mind lately.  I have 8 weeks to ago and I am both excited and really nervous for her to come!  But that is probably how every mother feels.  This is about what Lucy is up to at the moment:
--She is about 15-16 inches, weighs about 4 lbs, and never stops kicking!
--She is very quickly running out of space and soon will only have room to suck her thumb and dig her little toes up my ribs and around my sides.
--Dave and I like to play with her by poking my sides so that she pokes/kicks back at us.

Birthday Party

On Memorial Day, Dave and I had a combined birthday party with a bunch of people from the ward.  We had it by the pool in our apartment complex.  It was a lot of fun to go swimming, have a BBQ, and enjoy each other's company.  Also this past weekend one of our good friends here (Peter Malinka) had a half birthday that we celebrated with a BBQ and swimming by the pool.   This will probably become a habit for us, swimming and BBQ.  I really enjoyed it.

California

After spending a weekend in Colorado we spent the next weekend in California.  While there we went to Dave's Cousin's wedding.  Nicole was beautiful and the cake was delicious!  It was a spectacular event.  I am so happy for her and hopes she enjoys being married as much as I do!

Also while we were in California we got to visit with my sister and our new niece.  Maddy Zmoos is the cutest!  It was so fun just to hold her and listen to all of her little noises.  I hope Lucy is just as cute!

The weekend we were in California happened to be my birthday too.  For my birthday Dave order the same cake that we got for our wedding.  It was just as tasty as I remembered!

On the Monday we were there Dave's Dad took us to the Getty Museum in Malibu.  It was a cool museum.  It mostly focused on ancient Greek and Roman eras.  There was a kid's section that Dave and I had some fun trying on foam hats.

Colorado

Since I will not be traveling for a while, Dave and I took the time to travel this month.  We spent the weekend  in Colorado.  Here is the group we shared a beautiful cabin with.  They are all really good friends whom we have known for a while now. We all meet at BYU, before we were all married.  It just so happens we married each other.  I think that worked out quite nicely!

(left to right) Matt & Dani Williams, Ryan & Holly Sweetwood, Dave & I.  Hidden behind us asleep on the couch is baby James Williams

Since he was cut out of the picture I thought this was a cute one to put up.  He is just so happy here.

The view from the front porch.  I wasn't kidding when I said beautiful!

This is what we looked like for most of the trip.  It was great to relax on the couches, play lots of games and watch some great movies.  This was the best vacation we have had so far and really hope we can do it again some time.

Arboretum

The other day we went to the Arboretum with some very good friends.  It was a lot of fun to walk around and take a look at the different flowers and trees.  If you haven't been I recommend it!!
